One to Remember - Football Season 2014

Storming the field after Ole Miss upset Alabama. Ole Miss ranked #3 in the country.

Rainy game day but a victory over top ranked Auburn, putting Miss State at #1.

Attending two ESPN College Game Days in a row and watching front row both times.

Tailgating with college friends like old times and seeing Katy Perry up close and personal.

The most perfect football weather and sunset at Ole Miss vs. Tennessee.

Heartbreak at Ole Miss vs. Auburn when insult (loosing) was added to (Laquon Treadwell's) injury.

cameras are like sunglasses for me

Blog posts are lacking due to the disappearance of my camera. It's somewhere in our house, but I've formed this awful habit of putting things away different places around the house thinking it's a great place only to forget where the great place was. I have looked everywhere so I'm beginning to lose hope. Cameras are like sunglasses to me because everybody is always losing sunglasses, but me...I lose cameras instead. This is only the third one I have lost. Maybe if I get one large enough it will be impossible to misplace? For now, I can only continue a post with iPhone photos, which are definitely not my favorite but I guess it's better than nothing.

The other weekend Wesley and I went to Oxford on Thursday for our friends' wedding weekend. We went on Thursday since a lot of the guys in the wedding had an early tee time Friday morning and it was way better than leaving our house before 5am Friday morning. Oxford was pretty dead when we hit the square Thursday night, but I kind of like going when it's like that. Completely opposite from a chaotic football weekend when we are usually there visiting. It reminded me why I loved to live in Oxford during the summers while I was in college. The crowds of students everywhere dies down and the whole town becomes such a more laid-back atmosphere.

Friday morning when Wesley left for golf, I got breakfast at the hotel and ended up eating in bed while watching the Today Show. Friday morning Today Shows are my favorite. It's the little things. Around 10am I got out and about, shopping a little on the square and even riding through campus with my windows down, music on and memories flowing. Around noon, more friends coming in town for the wedding started to get there and we all ended up meeting back up with the guys on the square for food and drinks. Around this time, I started to question what I was going to wear to the rehearsal dinner. Even though I already had something planned to wear, going shopping always gives me more ideas for what to wear.

Little did I know the after rehearsal party was going to be more like a rooftop rave. A really fun one with a DJ that kept playing Call Me Maybe as requested every second.

The next day a lot of us sat outside at Proud Larry's and it was probably my favorite part of the whole weekend - well aside from the rooftop after-party turned dance-athon.

The best part about these kinds of weekends is that it gives a reason to bring all of your favorite people together. By the end of weekends like this I'm ready to just move to Nashville and get everyone else that doesn't live there to move too so we can all be together and see these people every weekend. Can someone remind me why we all go our separate ways after college?

At least I have this guy around all the time.

Short trip to Oxford

The weather was just perfect for a stroll around the square as we made it to Oxford on Saturday. We finally found a parking spot and walked everywhere from Oxford Floral to get some McCarty, to the Lily Pad and Therapy. It was rush week with Bid Day being the following day {we quickly discovered} and these shops were packed with sorority gifts high and low and college freshmen girls' moms trying to decide what to get their daughters.
Thomas wanted nothing to do with those shops, so we got that out of our system and went to go pick him up for lunch {and deliver his Birthday-Halloween-cupcakes!}

We saw this little booger too!

It was a shame we couldn't bring him along to lunch.
We didn't go to Roosters, though the music and the wings with the sign next to it made us want to join them! But we chose Ajax next door. It was delicious by the way.

Best potatoes ever, artichoke and cheese casserole, squash casserole and butter beans. Thank goodness the birthday boy needed a good home cooked meal!

Then there was a request to head to Kunnicans where he picked out some birthday gifts and I found some Toms.
Toms are another shoe I have a hard time deciding if they are me or not. I also tried on black glitter Keds at Therapy... they are also interesting... I'm wondering if I should just leave those options for the college students. Lukily we were catching the game everywhere we went. Even Kunnicans had a sitting area with the last of the 4th quarter on.

The day went by too fast and before we knew it, it was time for goodbyes and a coffee for the night drive home. Happy Birthday Brother! Hope your golden birthday was golden!

it's still the greatest

Win or lose, there is still nothing like a game day in Oxford. It worked out that Wesley woke up Saturday morning at 6:30 for an 8 AM tee time and I did the same only to get on the road towards Oxford by 8:30. Wendy and I made it to Oxford in our parking spot by 10:50 and to the Rebel Club by 11:00. Kick off was at 11:20 and around the end of 2nd quarter we had enough of the game being played and headed to the square for some shopping and City Grocery porch time. Just as the game was ending, we went to the Grove to visit with friends and family. My brother and I Wendy, Margie's mom and I
I'm already plotting my next Oxford game day getaway. Even if it's just for the day. There really is nothing like it!

Saturday on the square

Just a nice little Saturday in Oxford...
Fresh lemonade and wings at Irie

Leisure stroll around the square

Time spent at a friend's house

More laughs and some dancing shared with friends at a wedding on the square

Oh how I missed you, Oxford.

Ole Miss defeats LSU

Wesley and I went to Oxford to see the Ole Miss beat LSU this weekend. It was so great to finally go to the grove this year. I forgot how extremely crowded and unlike any other place it truly is. I love it and it brings back the best memories of college! The LSU fans were really everywhere and of course a little obnoxious at times, but it was still a great atmosphere. Wesley was able to spend time with good friends from his hometown and watch some of the State game at one of their tents. I ran around for a bit to visit with friends and Thomas at his tent.

Despite the SEC officials' calls in the beginning, costing us potentially 14 points, we came out winners! Thank goodness too for the terrible play call by Les Miles in the 4th quarter. We went back to the grove for a little while after the big win and then hit the square. We stayed the night Saturday with Camille, one of my best friends who is in her first year of law school, and it was so good to see her even though it was for a short time. We had a great time seeing good friends and a great game!
On the way home Sunday morning, Wesley and I passed a truck that said LS WHO? 23 - 25!

Also, Sandra Bullock did "Are You Ready?" wearing an Ole Miss t-shirt! It was great! And later Wesley said that Sandra Bullock is just a "has-been". I'll have to point out to him all the nominations and awards she is yet to get for The Blindside and The Proposal.
